PGS & PGD in Surat, Gujarat India

Most couples are initiating fertility treatment due to various reasons. Some might reach to handle their inefficiency, and the others tend to change their gameplay with pregnancy. Every parent dreams of providing the best to their kids in all situations. The whole thing depends on the best sperm. A healthy sperm plays a very important role in designing your children. Problems like unusual shape are lack of mobility might fail your pregnancy even if it works, it will result in certain defects in your children. Thanks to these techniques and treatments that can eliminate every negative factor of your childbirth. You can consider various fertility treatments to eliminate your fertility issues. But these PGS & PGD test are followed to handle genetic factors of your sperm. Almost every couple will undergo two embryo tests before their sperm implantation. The first is the preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and the second is preimplantation genetic screening. After the positive result with these testes, you can implant your sperm. What if in case of a negative result? Don’t worry and you can handle your genetic issues with PGD & PGS

What is PGD?

PGD is one of the medical screening processes carried out to detect the genes of your sperm. This screening report results in the perfect identification of defect and diseases linked genes. This test is conducted with the couple’s embryos to find a trace of genetic history in both men and women. After this test, only embryos without any negative modifications are inserted into the female’s womb. This test helps ensure that the baby is born healthily without any genetic error. This is very important for the future of the baby. PGD is strictly followed in IVF treatment to bring out the best and healthy embryos for fertilization. With PGD screening, you can keep your child away from following the chance of diseases like Huntington’s disease, Exchange of chromosomal that may cause a miscarriage, mental retardation, congenital disabilities, and various other genetic diseases.

Who can benefit from PGD?

PGD screening is specially used between couples with a family history of serious diseases that might pass to their offspring. Offspring will get affected with an equal or high percentage of genital disorders during fertilization. This also includes prolonged disease and shrink infectious in high traces. PGD will support you by looking for specific markers for every deadly desire in these cases. For example, if a single gene disorder includes cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anaemia, that particle fragment of the gene has been replaced with the stem cell of another sibling. This treatment can also be used for family history of sex-linked disorders like fragile X syndrome and Duchenne muscular Dystrophy. This is treatment is highly used to find proper stem call match to replace the defected chromosome cell. The support of PGD with stem cell matching can be more effective with cross stem cell matching in need of a bone marrow transplant.

What is PGS?

PGS is also a typical type of genetic screening used to determine the number of chromosomes in your embryo. A perfect count number of 23 pairs is essential for a healthy baby. Planting more embryos for fertilization can increase the change of chromosome defects. Doctors consider placing a single embryo after proper PGS screening to avoid such defects in your baby. Usually, doctors select three or four healthy embryos for PGS screening. You can only carry out your fertilization with one selected embryo with a high positive percentage. This procedure will support bringing with perfect chromosome count. Mismatch of chromosome count is the main reason behind miscarriage during fertilization. And this frequent miscarriage will decrease your chance of pregnancy. This impact of miscarriage can be reduced with the help of PGS screening.

Who can benefit from PGS?

The risk of having abnormal embryos is quite even with healthy couples. That is two in time of delayed pregnancy because women face embryo modification which significantly increases the risk of defect chromosomes during their older ages. This is reason that late pregnancy fails and ends with miscarriage. Even implants fail with chromosomal defects and can bring biochemical pregnancy, fetal death at later times of pregnancy, stillbirth or abnormal baby birth. All these risk cases of pregnancies can be eliminated with PGS screening.

Couples who intend with IVF treatment will get more benefited from PGS screening.  Because in case of IVF treatment, they might have various negative factors like male factor infertility, recurrent IVF failures, older age or a very large number of embryos. All these factors might reflect in embryo fragments mainly in case of several miscarriage situations the chromosome gets highly altered, which make the birth situation worse. The translocation of the chromosome will affect the pregnancy. In the case of a successful birth, the baby might face issues after birth. In certain worst cases, a piece of chromosome breaks from its proper fragment. It attaches to another chromosome, resulting in an increased number of chromosomes at one fragment and decreases with another fragment. This cause the loss or gain of the cell’s genetic material.

Process of PGS & PGD Test

  • At first, the treatment carried with basic steps of IVF, like hormonal injection, egg extraction, and fertilization of the egg.
  • These steps are followed by a biopsy on the third or fifth day.
  • During the third day after IVF, blastomere is extracted from 6 to 8 cells of the embryo and process with the PGS/ PGD screening at the genetic lab.
  • The resulting embryo has been sent back to the cycle on the 5th day.
  • On the 5th day, the blastocyst, the biopsy of trophectoderm, has been sent for the PGS or PGD screening. Here the embryos are cryo-preserved at the genetic lab within a cycle.
  • Meanwhile, you will be prepared to transfer the frozen embryo in the cryo-preservation period. If the embryos are normal after biopsied, they will be thawed and transferred for fertilization.

This process will highly support you with more success rate during IVF treatment.

Things to know about PGS & PGD

  • This is one of the common processes of IVF, so it insists on the betterment of the baby and childbirth. You have to be prepared with extra funds rather than IVF costs. Usually, PGD and PGS costs are not included with the cost of the IVF cycle.
  • These tests are done with an amniotic fluid sample which you have to undergo three days later to your embryo culture process. Ejection of these samples keeps embryos stay in the testing stage, resulting in risk. If an embryo gets damaged within the testing period, it will cause miscarriage, and you can’t achieve a successful pregnancy.
  • PGS test has to be done with 5 to 6 healthy embryos, and this count might increase in case of later pregnancy. Attaining more embryos is not possible with one IVF cycle. You have to under several IVF cycles to develop enough embryos for testing.
  • For the complete PGD and PGS test, you must rely on the best IVF clinic. Only then you can have better results with successful pregnancy and healthy birth.

Which test is mandatory?

It is not that every couple has to undergo both genetic screening tests. You can perform better as per your pre-pregnancy reports and past family history. Doctors will suggest you the best one to undergo. The only thing you must consider is research with the best IVF clinic and successful IVF treatment with proper genetical screening.
